This week I saw some impressive footage from Mars. Presented by
ElderFox Documentaries (here on YouTube) and rendered in 4K video resolution, the still images were acquired from cameras on board Martian rovers and “stitched” together to give the appearance of video imagery.
Another interesting thing I learned is how long it takes to transmit quality imagery from Mars to Earth. Apparently, most of the time, the current Mars rovers are only able to transmit data to Earth at 32 kilo-bits per second. Needless to say, getting such 4K quality imagery back to Earth had to take a long time! Enjoy.
